World Language 2014 - 2015: APS middle schools have begun to implement a model of instruction that will allow students to earn high school credit for middle school world languages. 6th and 7th grade will earn credit for level 1 and 8th grade for level 2. This credit will be only elective credit and students would still need to complete three credits for pathway completion. Looking ahead to high school....this means that next year's 6th graders will need level 3 when they arrive in high schools in 2018.
World Readiness Standards for Learning Languages: Have you checked out the new standards? Go to the ACTFL site to read more about the new standards and to get a preview. All teachers will recieve their own copy of the standards during pre-planning in July. In the meantime, click here to download the pdf: Download World-ReadinessStandardsforLearningLanguages
ACTFL Can Do Statements: ACTFL has released the Can Do Statements. This amazing resource helps learners identify what they need to do to function at a specific level of proficiency. The statements also assist teachers in planning curriculum, units of instruction, and daily lessons that help learners improve performance and reach a targeted level of proficiency. Check out this wonderful resource on the ACTFL site. Share these with your students!
